Actor Tim Roth on Grief: Love, Loss, and Resilience
Date: Tuesday 20 May 2025
Actor Tim Roth reflects on the loss of his son, Cormac, who passed at 25 from cancer. His work on the film Poison, about grieving parents, became an unintentional preparation for his own journey through loss.
“There is no one way of grieving,” Roth shares, emphasizing that grief is deeply personal, like a fingerprint. He highlights the importance of respecting how others mourn and challenges the expectation for men to grieve in silence.
Roth describes grief as waves—some days calm, others overwhelming. Yet, his son’s motto, “Make sure you do the things you love,” offers a quiet reminder of resilience and the possibility of joy amidst loss.
Here in the Third Space, we can sit with the waves and the silence. If you could share one memory with someone you’ve lost, what would it be?
